SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — October 27, 2026. The county’s Public Health Services Injury Prevention Program received a $100,000 California Office of Traffic Safety award to promote pedestrian and bicyclist safety. Officials said the project will highlight safety practices for walkers and riders and drivers’ responsibility to watch for people outside vehicles.
Why this matters to residents
Public education can address crossing practices, driver awareness and other behaviors that affect safety. Stockton residents and people in neighboring San Joaquin communities can follow county health announcements for program outreach and upcoming activities.
What has not been confirmed
The state award is for the Injury Prevention Program. It does not establish construction of a new sidewalk, bicycle lane or signal, and should not be confused with the separate $250,000 child car-seat education award also announced October 27.
