SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — October 27, 2026. San Joaquin County Public Health Services announced a $250,000 award from the California Office of Traffic Safety for its Safe Kids Coalition’s child passenger-safety education program. The program focuses on helping caregivers understand how to transport children safely.
Why this matters to residents
Selecting a correctly sized car seat or booster, installing it properly and securing a child with a correctly fitted belt are important steps for families. Residents should ask Public Health Services when inspections or classes will take place and whether preregistration is needed.
What has not been confirmed
This grant is not proof that every family will receive a free seat. The county’s general announcement did not establish a public distribution location, individual eligibility or an immediate equipment giveaway. A separate pedestrian and bicycle safety award is unrelated to the car-seat program.
