STOCKTON / SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — Caltrans has released its next construction schedule for highways serving Stockton, the Delta and western San Joaquin County. The largest planned interruption is a 12-hour full closure of State Route 4 on Sunday, November 15, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. between Tracy Boulevard and the San Joaquin–Contra Costa county line.
Local access is to be allowed, but through traffic will need to follow a marked detour. The daytime closure is part of the SR-4 Delta Pavement Improvement Project, according to Caltrans’ November 5 traffic advisory.
Other Highway 4 restrictions
From Monday, November 9 through Tuesday, November 10, Caltrans plans overnight one-way traffic control between Bacon Island/Trapper Road and the Old River Bridge, 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. A separate section near SR-99 and Golden Gate Avenue is scheduled for intermittent night work through November 13, generally 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
I-5 construction near Stockton
Drivers on Interstate 5 between Hammer Lane and State Route 12 should prepare for alternating overnight lane and full ramp closures from November 8 through November 13. Caltrans lists 9 p.m.–5 a.m. for northbound work and 8 p.m.–6 a.m. for southbound work. The affected ramps include Hammer Lane, Eight Mile Road and SR-12.
The work is part of the I-5 Anchor Pavement Project, which Caltrans says will improve about 34 miles of pavement and shoulders and upgrade several ramps along the corridor.
Before leaving
All times are scheduled, not guarantees; emergency incidents, weather or materials could change work windows. Caltrans advises allowing extra time and checking QuickMap immediately before traveling. Motorists should observe flaggers, temporary speed restrictions and detour signs.
