STOCKTON — November 7, 2026. Caltrans will close lanes and some ramps on Interstate 5 between Hammer Lane and State Route 12 during night work scheduled from November 8 through 13.

Hours by direction

Northbound lane restrictions are generally scheduled 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and southbound restrictions 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Officials also plan intermittent complete closures of entrance and exit ramps at Hammer Lane, Eight Mile Road and SR-12 during the nightly work windows. A particular ramp may not close every night.

Why crews are there

The work is part of the I-5 Anchor Pavement Project, a program to renew approximately 34 miles of pavement and shoulders and improve selected interchanges and ramps. It covers a much broader corridor than just central Stockton.

Travel planning

Allow extra time, watch portable message signs and check Caltrans for the exact ramp affected. The announced closures can change because of weather, equipment or incidents. This notice does not establish that the full interstate is closed in both directions for the entire week, and it should not be confused with the separate I-5 Westley rest-area closure already reported by California58.
